REDUCE INFLAMMATION
The health benefits of turmeric is far reaching, especially for inflammation. Many modern diseases, such as cancer, arthritis, cholesterol problems, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease, are advanced by a low-grade inflammation.
Turmeric is found in almost every dish in India, where chronic illness is significantly lower than in Western countries, especially the United States. Turmeric is rich in anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties due to the action of curcumin. Thousands of studies have shown it improves every organ in the body and to reduce inflammation. One study found turmeric, combined with onions, work together, to protect against cancer. Research shows it to be more effect in some cases than prescription drugs.
It can be used in lentils, soups, on vegetables, in stews, and chili. Turmeric is also found in yellow mustard. Store in a clean, airtight, container away from heat and light or store in the refrigerator.
FEEDING THE MONSTER
ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP
Are we creating a monster by using antibacterial soaps? Overuse of antibacterial soap has been linked to “superbugs” an antibacterial-resistant bacteria according to Rebecca Sutton, PhD, staff scientist at the Environmental Working Group, a Washington, D.C. based organization.
The active ingredient, triclosan, a synthetic chemical in antibacterial soap, has been implicated as a cause of the rise of the ‘superbug” a monster of danger we yet do not fully understand. What is known is the “superbug” not only resists triclosan but other antibiotics, as well. A bacteria that does not respond to antibiotics puts us in danger for many bacterial diseases.
Not only does triclosan contribute to “superbugs” but it may be harmful to your health in other ways. It may disrupt the endocrine system, especially sex hormones and the thyroid.
Plain soap and water could be the safer and healthier choice. Read the label and avoid buying soaps that contain triclosan.

CONSCIOUSNESS IS PENETRATING
Can consciousness impact things? That was the question in the minds of the researchers at SRI (Stanford Research Institute) as they tried to detect and measure the mind’s ability to influence an object.
A magnetometer specially designed to search for an elementary particle called the quark, was placed in a well under a building in Meno Park, California. The superconducting device measures magnetic fields. It was shielded to prevent any outside interference. Under normal conditions the output of the device shows the decay of an initial magnetic field over time by recording the strength of the wave and the decline as it decays. The shield had been tested to see if any outside electro magnetic fields could impact it and it had failed to be influenced.
In an experiment on consciousness, however, the device showed a measureable change. While a highly intuitive subject attempted to place his attention within the device the wave pattern alteration. The normal wave doubled at the moment his attention penetrated the well shielded device. Each time attention was placed on the device the wave doubled. No means, other than conscious attention, caused the same results.
Do our thoughts penetrate things, influence circumstances, and create altered outcomes? It is very likely they do. I recall having this awareness as a child while placing a coin in a vending machine. I knew cooperation was needed for the machine to work properly. A friend of mine always had difficulty in retrieving an item from a machine. She put the coins in the same as I did but nothing would release. Because this happened so often it became a joke between us but was it really the difference in the way we projected our thoughts?
Intuitive ability enables us to penetrate things, places, events and the thoughts of other’s. Mindfulness is important as we learn how we are impacting the world around us.

Emotional Threads
Plants, Animals Humans
Is compassion only a human quality? This question is being asked by new researchers about the emotional lives of animals. Comparing the rich emotions of a human to that of animals may seem silly on the surface but for anyone who has owned a pet they know the emotional make-up of animals to be real.
Compassion, thought to be a highly evolved emotion only found in humans because of it’s selfless quality, can be seen in the behavior of animals as well. For instance the story of Ben and Bill, a pair of Jack Russell terriers, who came to a shelter in need of care. Ben had been stabbed and had to have both eyes removed. Bill began acting as Ben’s eyes, holding onto the scruff of his neck, guiding him around the grounds, preventing him from running into things. And then there is Annie the mule and Charlie the steer. Annie who could not see well had a hard time finding her way to the watering tank. But when Charlie, the steer, arrived he noticed Annie’s difficulties and began guiding Annie along. They became best friends and were inseparable.
According to Marc Bekoff, professor of evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, competition does not drive behavior as much as cooperation. Cooperation is the key to evolution and survival rather than competing and fighting. Compassion seems to be born of a greater sense of selflessness and cooperation. This is demonstrated by a couple of goldfish who swam to the top of their tank competitively grabbing as much food as possible. When one of the gold fish became ill and sluggish, he had a difficult time swimming to the top of the water to feed. Rather than remaining competitive, the other goldfish demonstrated compassion and selflessly nudged the ill goldfish to the surface to feed first. He only eat what was left. If the goldfish were all about selfish survival this act would not have happened.
Emotional communication is the deepest form of connection among living things. Cleve Backster’s, research on biocommunication using sophisticated electrodes, shows us a world of interaction at a cellular level, with rich responses among all living things. Bacteria, plants, animals, and humans have been recorded responding to the emotional state of other living things in his research. Backster’s work describes how once an emotional connection is made between plants, animals, humans and even bacteria they remain in connection on an emotional level. He recorded house plants while their owners were away and no matter how much distance was between the owner and the plant, the plant responded to the owner’s emotions.
This type of response happens in humans but is on a cellular level and goes unnoticed by most individuals. Research done on this demonstrates this emotional connection. Two groups of people were placed in separate rooms. One group was connected to electrodes in order to measure any changes in their body. The other group was asked to randomly think about the group being monitored by sending a strong emotional thought. Times of emotional communication was recorded and compared to any changes shown by the electrical devices connected to the other group. There was a strong correlation between the cells measured responses and an emotional message being sent.

GET MOVING TO DETOX
Have you ever felt that puffy, sluggish feeling and not known why? It may be because you are not moving enough. Americans are moving less every year. In 2010 37 percent said they were not exercising and that figure went up to 43 percent in 2011.
When you exercise your body activates a process of inner cleansing through the lymphatic system, which gets rid of that puffy sluggish feeling by flushing dead blood cells, excess fluid, and toxins from your body. Climbing stairs, lifting weights, jumping rope or any form of activity will set off muscle contractions that squeeze lymph vessels throughout your body. The lymphatic system is dependent on muscle contraction through movement, exercise, and physical activity to pump and cleanse your system.
Another way of moving the lymphatic system is through lymphatic massage. A professional massage therapist specially trained in lymphatic massage understands how to manipulate the lymph system. Another way is to use a brush or rough sponge and gently stroke the skin with movements toward the heart.
SELF-AWARE: THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF INTUITION
By the age of two most children recognize their own image in a mirror. It is at this point self-awareness begins through self-recognition. Separating from others and establishing an independent identity is the mark of physical and mental adulthood and is a very necessary part of growing up. Spiritual maturing imitates this by being reliant on greater levels of self-awareness as well. As we become aware, our choices change. We grow together as a species, evident in our choices regarding the world beyond ourselves. Just as we have grown to be aware of human rights, animal rights, and environment concerns we are also becoming aware of our impact in the universe. This marks a kind of spiritual growing up through a deeper level of awareness.
We are evolving into an ever more complicated conscious being as we explore the multi-layers existing within us. There to guide this process is intuition, the bridge integrating spiritual awareness with individual awareness. The macro and micro duality of life coexist in a peaceful union of respect in the spiritually mature person.
That moment of spiritual awakening is like looking in the mirror and seeing yourself for the first time. It offers you the keys to choice and thus responsibility. Let us be aware, be more intuitive, and take the steps toward greater levels of spiritual maturity as we enter 2012 and beyond.
Be part of the solution, be intuitive.
